Garrett is probably the best-known turbo brand in the world. Since 1954, the Garrett name has been synonymous with advanced turbo technology developed to make engines more powerful, efficient and clean. More than 130 million vehicles around the world are now equipped with Garrett turbochargers - from passenger cars to trucks to racing machines to industrial engines.<\/p>\n

The story begins with John Clifford Garrett, an aeronautical engineer with a passion for engineering and performance. His knowledge from aviation was soon applied to the development of turbochargers for internal combustion engines. In 1954, the first Garrett turbocharger, the T15, was mounted on the Caterpillar D9 crawler engine. The first turbocharged production car followed not much later - the Oldsmobile Jetfire Turbo Rocket in 1962.<\/p>\n

In the 1970s came the breakthrough in the passenger car world. Models like the Porsche 911 Turbo and the Saab 99 Turbo showed that turbo technology was not just for trucks or industry, but also for sporty and fuel-efficient cars. Garrett continued to innovate and in the 1990s introduced the variable geometry turbocharger (VNT), which allows the turbo pressure to adjust to any engine speed. This technology made turbochargers more powerful, more economical and more suitable for everyday use.<\/p>\n

Garrett has also built an impressive record in racing. From Formula 1 to the 24 Hours of Le Mans - Garrett turbos have won many championships and races. Reliability and performance under extreme conditions have always been the starting point here.<\/p>\n

Today, Garrett is working not only on mechanical turbochargers, but also on the future of propulsion. Think electric E-Turbos for hybrid vehicles, fuel cell compressors for hydrogen cars and new cooling systems for electric powertrains. In this way, Garrett remains a leader, even in a world increasingly committed to cleaner and more efficient mobility.<\/p>\n
